Live & Studio

Live-streaming and remote productions, Emmy-winning studio-based productions and builds for brands and networks like Discovery, IAC, Condé Nast, MTV, and more.

On-location and from our control room and studio in Brooklyn, NY, Spacestation has produced thousands of hours of live content for fitness, lifestyle, entertainment, and corporate clients over the years. We’ve built and shipped remote drop kits of all sizes: From simple interview setups directed remotely on a phone to multi-camera setups broadcast remotely in cities around the world complete with custom encoders, audio and video return, prompter, and in-ear monitoring for talent. We work with our clients to create scalable, cost-effective approaches for one-off live events, quick turnaround studio shows to full studio construction, and technical build-outs.

Our studio work has served clients like Food Network, IAC, and Obé Fitness, a leading streaming fitness app whose studio we built, staffed and produced nearly 100 hours of live weekly classes. MTV's Unplugged won an Emmy in 2009-10 for Best New Approach, while Daily Burn 365 was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 2017. Our very own 1000-square-foot studio is fully networked and wired for both in-person live broadcasts, remote interviews, and podcast production.

Case Study: Obé Fitness

The founders of Obé Fitness approached us for our expertise in the live fitness genre, having created the Emmy-nominated Daily Burn 365, to help them launch a new genre-busting fitness offering targeting the at-home fitness audience. Our challenge: create a scalable and sustainable production workflow with a limited staff to service more than 100 hours of live-streaming content every month while creating an exciting and dynamic look and feel. Named one of Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Wellness” company’s in 2020, Spacestation helped propel Obé to the top of the fitness world, winning a Webby Award in 2021 in the Health & Wellness category.

Case Study: Condé Nast

We’ve been producing entertainment and branded content for our friends at Condé Nast for a while, from Above Average Joe to Good Morning Vogue, but when the pandemic shutdown all their in-person events, the amazing team at Condé Nast asked Spacestation to help produce a series of virtual events for them. This evolved into The New Yorker Live, Wired 25, and Re:Wired, as well as a slew of one-off branded events. Using our custom-built Zoom farm with isolated camera and audio feeds in our studio, we worked with the events and talent team at Condé to plan, tech test, and execute elevated conversations with notable figures and celebrities around the world from Amanda Gorman, Jason Sudekis, Nick Kroll, Jeremy O’Harris, and more.

Case Study: GK Now

In 2017, Scripps Networks (Discovery) wanted to reach millennial foodies and embarked on a multiplatform effort, rebranding Food.com into Genius Kitchen, a massive effort of short and mid form originals, including the flagship weekly variety show called GK Now. Hosted by the inimitable Akilah Hughes (What A Day, Crooked Media) and featuring a roster of young comedians and chefs, GK Now brought a fun approach to food news, entertainment, and “what and where to eat” in American pop culture.

Spacestation worked with the Scripps team to build out a studio complete with a studio kitchen, state-of-the-art touchscreens, a lifestyle area for cooking segments, a fully staffed edit area, and a dedicated camera team around the country to turnaround short segments for both in-show and social media for this quick-turn weekly 30 minute show.
